Please see below for information about Suzuki dealer scan tools.
From 1996 to 2008, the GM Tech 2 scan tool handheld was the scan tool used for diagnosing problems on Suzukis. There was a split in software card coverage. Suzuki-produced vehicles including the early 2002's XL7 SUV were on one 10MB software card. The GM-produced and rebadged Suzuki XL7 for 2007-2009 was on a different 32MB software card.
The funny part is that usually you can lie to a scan tool about the vehicle model, etc and it will connect. In this case, trying to use the GM software card with normal GM vehicles on it will not work. For 2007-2009, the GM-based XL7 can only be diagnosed with the 32MB software card with only 2007-2009 XL7 on it. Starting in 2009, all other Suzuki vehicles were on a different hand held scan tool called the SDT.
Reflashing of a Suzuki vehicle can only be done with a yearly subscription to download the latest reflash program with calibration files. The reflash program is designed to use the SDT scan tool on 2009 and newer vehicles.
The special Suzuki SDS reflashing interface for 2008 and older vehicles was the Suzuki choice. Most aftermarket-designed reflashers are compatible with Suzuki vehicles, though not guaranteed. We do sell the SDT for Suzuki and it has all dealer-level functions.
Theft relearning is a big problem on Suzuki. Only two vehicles currently have theft, the Kasashi and the 4-door pickup truck with the special trim package. The big joke here is that the special immobilizer cable needed to connect the SDT to the vehicle is $3000.00. You must be registered with their website, have a locksmith LSID, and pay $20.00 per vehicle for the theft release code.
Really, on a Suzuki? Go figure.
