ABOUT NISSAN/INFINITI DEALER SCAN TOOLS

Nissan/Infiniti had a handheld scan tool called the Consult 2 from late 1990's until approximately 2006/7. It was yellow and was fairly easy to use. It’s sorely missed, because it was the only tool to safely reflash engine computers on 2000 through 2006 vehicles. Anybody with one is smart in keeping it just for this function.

The J2534 tools available to independents don't work reliably on these Consult 2 vehicles. Nobody wants to reflash a computer only to see it crash and die in the middle of the process. It’s not very profitable when you have to buy another PCM. The Nissan factory scan tools are the only ones that can recover a crash.

The Consult 3 is not quite as easy to use and is not as convenient as just grabbing a scan tool and working on the car. Beyond that, it’s a great tool to use. It also has a Consult 2 icon that makes its operation menu look similar to the Consult 2. Consult 3 was an expensive system, retailing at about $7000.00 when it was new. This price included the necessary toughbook. Now that Nissan is moving again to the Consult 3 Plus, the Consult 3 has become obsolete.

We also have the newest Consult 3 Plus kit with a genuine SPX interface. This kit allows reprogramming of blank transmission computers inside newly rebuilt transmissions, as well as reprogramming of other modules. It comes loaded with 95% of all flash files. The kit costs $4995.00 with used CF-19 laptop and interface kit. Locksmith theft card is $400.00 additional. We occasionally get these used kits, but new kits run $6995.00. We also have a tool that pulls the security code out of the car, which is $199.00.
